One such change is the new booking rule implemented by the institution. Now you can place your booking whenever you want 120 days before the travel. Also, an Aadhaar verified user can book up to 12 tickets per month now plus you can avail a refund if your train is unable to depart within the 3 hours of the arrival time-

  • As aforementioned before an Aadhar verified person can book up to 12 tickets, for someone who is not verified the number is slashed to 6. The tickets are booked 120 days prior including the day of the journey. Maximum 2 tickets are allowed to be booked between 8 am to 10 am.
  • Tatkal tickets can be booked 1 day before the travel day. The bookings for AC coaches start from 10 am while the sleeper class begins after 11 am.
  • The 2-ticket rule applies to the to tatkal bookings as well. Only 2 tickets could be booked from one ID between the opening tatkal of 10 am to 12 noon.
  • As per the distance restrictions in the force, the maximum of 6 berths can be booked for a particular journey between 2 stations.
  • The limit for tatkal tickets for a single session is one.
  • Also known as a single page, quick book service is not available between 8 am to 12 noon. One user can work on one login session at a time. A Captcha is available at the time of login, payment pages, and passenger details webpage.
  • The time of agents to accept booking is limited to different windows in a day starting from 8 am to 8:30 am, 10 am to 10:30 am, and 11 am to 11:30 am. The time to book tickets after the reservations start is fixed to 30 minutes to keep the agents from booking multiple tickets and encourage real passengers to place bookings for themselves.
  • The train ticket booking has become more reserved. The allowed time to fill the passenger details is 25 seconds and the time to complete the Captcha on the same is 5 seconds.
  • When it comes to online payment or net banking, the passenger has to verify themselves with a one-time-password (OTP) for every payment made.
  • Passengers are can seek a refund for a number of issues, like-
  1. If the train doesn’t sally after 3 hours of arrival
  2. The train route has been altered and the passenger still want to travel from the original route
  3. If you booked a higher-class train ticket but end up with a lower class seat. Then you are entitled to a full refund if you don’t want to travel in the lower-class couches. But if you managed, the difference between both the ticket prices is paid back in full.
  • You can also transfer your ticket to another passenger in need. The Chief Reservation Supervisor can make the changes one day prior to travel. Plus the train inquiry has become easier with the use of mobile applications
